Self portraiture is a tradition that I wanted to honor. This portrait symbolizes where I am now, with a nod to my past and future. It informed me of the experience my subjects have when I paint them. This is my first portrait using acrylic on silk panel, a technique I developed to capture the softness of skin. A special thanks to the stylist, my daughter Alana Sivo.

I met Captain Ferris at the open air fish stand in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. He is a well known fisherman with a playful sense of humor! I returned to the island after completing the painting, hoping to thank him for being a willing subject. It took the whole week to track him down. I finally met with him 30 minutes before we left for the airport!

This portrait is of a young woman I met in Park City, Utah. The rose collar and aged wallpaper I created gives this portrait a vintage western feel.

For this portrait of my husband, I decided to try a new medium, mosaic. I was inspired by a perfect boating day our family had on Lake Minnetonka.
